Events and Competitions
Whether you’re a novice eager to experience the thrill of competition or a seasoned angler seeking to prove your prowess, our competitions offer a platform for all to participate and excel.
The club’s competitions are organised into three distinct categories: the Club Champion, Full Members’ Largest Species, and Social Members’ Largest Species. Further details about each category are provided below for your reference.
The club arranges two regional trips a year one in March and one in June. In March we usually go to Marlo where we have an annual inter club event with the Marlo Angling Club and in June we we’ve been to places like lake Tyers, Mallacoota, Warrnambool and others.
Club Champion
The club championship is an accumulation of points from our monthly competitions, where the heaviest bag of fish and the number of fish on the club’s permitted species is calculated.
Full Members
Full members are allowed to fish for all the largest species on the club’s list, as well as the club championship.
Social Members
Social members are allowed to compete for the following largest species (salmon and snapper).
Track my Fish App
The club has introduced a new system of competing through an online app. Members will be able to download the app, allowing them to fish anywhere in Victoria between February and December for the largest species, measure the fish from head to the fork of the Tail, all other species e.g., gummies and flatties as per V.R. Fish on a Dangler’s brag mat.
Points
The points for the monthly comps are as follows:
- 5 points for attendance
- 3 points for heaviest bag of fish
- 2 points for second
- 1 point for third
- 1 point for each fish on the club’s permitted species.
The captain and vice-captain will monitor all comps and if they are not available will nominate another member.
